Canelo Backs Joshua To Overcome Fury in The Late Rounds

Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is backing IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to come away with a victory when he faces WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

There are ongoing discussions to finalize a unification between Joshua and Fury in 2021. The agreement would be a two-fight pact, with the first fight taking place in May or June and the rematch, regardless of the winner, happening before the end of the year.

Canelo believes Joshua would leave with all five titles – after rallying to stop Fury in the late rounds.

“AJ wins by late stoppage. AJ has that raw power which will make Fury think about boxing him more than beating him up. As Joshua gets his second wind in the later rounds, that’s when he’ll land a shot on Fury and knock him out,” Canelo told Sky Sports, according to The Sun.

The fight between Joshua and Fury is dependent on two factors playing out.

Former undisputed cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk is the WBO’s mandatory challenger. At the moment he’s refusing to step aside from his ordered title shot. A deal would have to be worked out for Usyk to step aside – or Joshua could be forced to vacate the WBO belt in order to move forward with Fury.

For Fury’s part, he’s involved in a legal rift with Deontay Wilder.

Fury stopped Wilder in seven rounds back in February. Wilder would then exercise an immediate rematch clause. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the fight was pushed back several times. Fury and his handlers believe the rematch clause has now expired. Wilder, who believes the rematch clause is still valid, began a legal action to enforce his claim to an immediate third fight.

JAKE PAUL LEAVING CALI TO FOCUS ON BOXING!!! Eyeing Move to Miami

Jake Paul‘s putting the ol’ “for sale” sign outside his Calabasas mansion — he says he’s fleeing all the distractions of L.A. so he can become a boxing champ.

The YouTube star and undefeated boxer announced Wednesday he’s starting the next chapter of his life — the biggest prizefighter in the world chapter — and that means getting away from all the “madness” and parties.

As Jake put it, he’s too attracted to all that “chaos” … which explains some of the epic ragers at his soon-to-be listed crib.

In order to be the best athlete he can possibly be, Jake says he’s gotta find somewhere more suitable to train … pointing out he spent 4 months training in Las Vegas ahead of his knockout of Nate Robinson.

Remember … Jake’s pulling out all the stops, attempting to book a boxing match with Conor McGregor, so the dude better be serious about training.

He’s been living in L.A. since he was 17, but says Cali living is no longer a good fit. As for where he’s headed — sources connected tell TMZ Sports, Jake’s eyeing places in the Miami area. We’re told he’s down there now, and staying in a rental. No word if he’s found a permanent crib yet.

Arguably, Miami’s no better than L.A. when it comes to the party scene … but it is warmer year-round.

We know this, and so does Jake … his Calabasas neighbors will fully support his move. He says they were always pissed about his huge parties and wild YouTube shoots on the property.

As we reported … Jake’s after-party for the Nate fight pissed off the Mayor of Calabasas, and city officials were actively looking into ways to punish him.

Jake says he’ll miss the hell out of his friends in Cali. We’re guessing that doesn’t include the mayor.

EXCLUSIVE: Deontay Wilder mediation ongoing, fears grow for Fury v AJ

World Boxing News has been informed that the Deontay Wilder mediation involving Tyson Fury remains an ongoing situation. Firstly, reports surfaced this week that Wilder had thrashed out a deal with Fury over their potential trilogy.

When asked directly by World Boxing News on Wednesday evening, co-manager Shelly Finkel denied it. “The mediation between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury has not yet ended,” Finkel exclusively told WBN.

Fears are now growing that Fury will have to stick to his word and allow Wilder to win back his World Boxing Council heavyweight title. Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn is certain an undisputed clash with Fury can happen in 2021.

Others closer to Wilder and Fury disagree. It could now be more likely that we see Fury vs. Wilder III than the Joshua fight over the coming months. In 2018, Hearn famously didn’t believe the first Fury vs. Wilder event would happen after Joshua chose to end talks with the American to face Alexander Povetkin. Hearn was quoted in the media several times calling Fury vs. Wilder ‘a hype story’ and stating ‘it will never happen.’ However, it did.

At that time, Finkel spoke to WBN and reassured fans that Fury vs. Wilder was definitely on – as it eventually proved to be. “We’ve been talking to Frank Warren for around two weeks now, and we’re close,” Finkel exclusively told WBN months before the fight took place in December 2018.

“Everybody is working hard to get the deal done, and we’re hopeful it will happen because it’s a big, big fight and one that Deontay wants. “All being well, it will take place in November or December in the United States. “Tyson Fury is not afraid, maybe like Anthony Joshua was, to come over to the US and fight Deontay. So for us, it’s the biggest fight out there we can make right now.

“We wanted Joshua, and I have my own opinions as to why they don’t want to do it, but now we have the chance to make the biggest fight out there for Deontay against Tyson Fury. “Right now, it looks really good that it will happen in November or December, and we want to make it happen. “We hope by next week Wilder v Fury will be done,” he added.

DEONTAY WILDER TRILOGY

The clash went into the history books as one of the most enthralling heavyweight battles in recent years. We might get a third encounter soon.

Campbell: I Didn’t Perform To Best Of My Ability Versus Lomachenko

Luke Campbell doesn’t want to hear about moral victories.

Much has been made of the 2012 Olympic Gold medalist and former two-time title challenger serving as the toughest test in the young career of unbeaten contender Ryan García (20-0, 17KOs). The storyline is usually assigned to the fighter deemed as the gatekeeper in the equation, a measuring stick to the young gun on the rise.

England’s Campbell didn’t cross the Atlantic Ocean just to serve as a footnote in García’s career, but rather the one responsible for ruining it.

“I want to prove that I’m the best in the division,” Campbell emphatically stated during Thursday’s final pre-fight press conference ahead of their scheduled 12-round main event (Saturday, DAZN, 5:00 p.m. ET). “I want to beat the best in the division.”

That moment has yet to come for Campbell, having twice come up short on the title stage. The 33-year old southpaw from Hull, England dropped a narrow decision to then-lightweight titlist Jorge Linares in September 2017 and falling well short in a 12-round defeat to Vasilily Lomachenko in their multi-belt title fight last August in London.

Campbell was credited for proving to be a handful for the supremely skilled Lomachenko (14-2, 10KOs), though he has taken such feedback as false praise. No longer interested in being a runner-up, the British southpaw has conducted some serious soul searching over the past 16 months, along with preparing himself for a career-defining performance on Saturday.

“My strategy is to win by any means possible,” insists Campbell. “Everybody’s said I performed well against Lomachenko. Me myself, I know I didn’t perform to the best of my ability.

“I’ve watched it back, I’ve trained and have brought myself to be the best I can be.”

The scheduled 12-round bout will air live on DAZN from American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The winner will become the mandatory challenger to the lightweight title currently held by Devin Haney (25-0, 15KOs), who will be on site as part of the DAZN broadcast team.

Kazuto Ioka Drops, Stops Kosei Tanaka In 8th Round, Retains 115-Pound Title

Kazuto Ioka continued a time-honored tradition in style, forever cementing his place as a modern-day great while denying history at his expense in the process.

The four-division and reigning WBO junior bantamweight titlist denied the same status sought by previously unbeaten Kosei Tanaka, scoring two knockdowns en route to an 8th round stoppage win Thursday evening at Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.

Ioka scored knockdowns in rounds five and six, before stopping Tanaka on his feet (barely) midway through round eight of their TBS-Japan televised headliner.

Ioka sought to make his presence felt right from the opening bell, coming out swinging with a left hook. Tanaka immediately adjusted, the former 105-, 108- and 112-pound titlsit taking a slight step back and digging in with his jab. The unbeaten challenger connected with a straight right hand, followed by a left uppercut. The Osaka-bred, Tokyo-based Ioka ended the frame in textbook fashion, landing a left hook to the body as well as one up top.

Tanaka took the lead in round two, landing in combination and his hand speed proving to be an issue. Ioka turned the tide late in the round, power punching his way to the bell before relying more on his superior defensive skills in a round three where Nagoya’s Tanaka considerably outworked his elder countryman.

Both fighters showed battles scars by the end of round four. Ioka was forced to contend with a mouse around his left eye, while Tanaka was bleeding from his nose though neither seemed bothered by the wounds.

Tanaka would become very bothered by the end of round five. Both fighters had their say in a high contact and competitive frame but it was Ioka who would have the final word. A left hook by the 31-year old sent Tanaka tumbling to the canvas for the bout’s first knockdown.

“After he went down, I knew he had lost his temper,” Ioka said after the fight, as translated to BoxingScene.com by manager Taku Nagashima. “I told myself that this is the time to gather my composure and really show him that I am a superior boxer.”

Ioka would grow braver in round six, the risk proving well worth the reward. Tanaka showed tenacious recuperative skills, punching his way back into the lead before getting clipped again. A right hand sent the former three-division titlist to the canvas, rising quickly but suddenly in a deep hole through six rounds.

The second half of the fight opened with Tanaka switching between conventional and southpaw, while also looking to work the body. Ioka wisely kept his distance, wise enough to not fall in love with his own power and pursue a knockout that wasn’t there for the taking.

That opportunity would come mere moments later.

Ioka closed the show in style in round eight. Tanaka came out in a conventional stance, firing his jab and looking to bully his elder foe. Ioka played just enough defense to minimize the damage before moving in to close the show. A left hook by Ioka rocked Tanaka, with referee Michiaki Someya immediately jumping in to rescue the battered fighter.

The official time was 1:35 of round eight. Ioka was ahead 69-62, 68-63 and 68-63 at the time of the stoppage.

“It was a fight that showed Ioka is highly underrated,” Nagashima told BoxingScene.com. “When I saw the odds as him being a underdog, it was unbelievable to me.  This was not close to being a fight of the year, but it was a clinic on boxing technique and intellect.

“This is a big step towards unifying the belts in the [115-pound] division.”

Tanaka suffers his first career defeat, falling to 15-1 (9KOs) as he was denied a fourth division title, at least on his first try. A win by the all-action hero would have shattered the all-time mark for the fastest to title status at four different weights.

For now, the mark remains with Oscar de la Hoya who accomplished the feat in his 24th fight—a 12-round nod over Pernell Whitaker to claim the lineal welterweight championship en route to winning titles in six weight divisions.

Instead, Tanaka will have to settle for his shared history with Vasiliy Lomachenko as the fastest to three divisional titles by any male boxer. Both did so by their 12th pro fight, Tanaka accomplishing the feat in his Sept. 2018 flyweight title winning effort over Sho Kimura to match the record set by Lomachenko just four months prior.

It stands to reason that his day could eventually come at some point within his next eight fights.

“I want to thank Tanaka who is a young boxer that will eventually be one of the boxers to carry the torch for Japan,” acknowledged Ioka, who improves to 26-2 (14KOs) while retaining sole possession of a significant piece of boxing history.

Thursday’s win marks the second defense of the 115-pound title claimed in a 10th round stoppage of Philippines’ Aston Palicte last June in Chiba, Japan. With that win, Ioka became the first-ever male boxer from Japan to win titles in four weight divisions, a run which began with a 5th round knockout of then-unbeaten strawweight titlist Oleydong Sithsamerchai way back in Feb. 2011.

From there came the start of a tradition of world championship boxing on New Year’s Eve. Ioka headlined his first year-end show on Dec. 31, 2011, knocking out unbeaten Thai challenger Yodgoen Tor Chalermchai in just 98 seconds.

The win marked the first of nine career New Year’s Eve main events, with Ioka now 8-1 on the festive occasion.

Six months later came the final fight of his strawweight title reign, also providing a watershed moment in Japanese boxing history. A spirited 12-round unanimous decision win over Akira Yaegashi in June 2012 marked the first-ever—and to date, only—unification bout between reigning titlists from Japan.

The second title reign for Ioka would begin later that year, scoring a 6th round stoppage of Jose Alfredo Rodriguez to win a vacant 108-pound belt on New Year’s Eve 2012. Three title defenses would follow, the last of which came exactly one year later in a 12-round decision over Felix Alvarado who presently serves as a junior flyweight titlist.

It would take two tries and 16 months for Ioka to win a flyweight title. The first defeat of his career came in May 2014, dropping a 12-round decision to Amnat Ruenroeng in his first attempt at a flyweight belt. Success would come 50 weeks later, edging Juan Carlos Reveco over 12 rounds in April 2015 before stopping the Argentinean in the 11th round of their rematch later that year on New Year’s Eve 2015.

Ioka’s lone New Year’s Eve loss came in Dec. 2018, two fights into his comeback after abruptly retiring in 2017—the only year among the past ten where he didn’t fight on New Year’s Eve. It was also the only time he spent the holiday in another country, as he dropped a competitive split decision to Donnie Nietes in their vacant 115-pound title fight in Macao.

History was denied for Ioka in looking to become Japan’s first-ever male boxer to win belts in four divisions, though doing so six months later in his aforementioned win over Palicte. The first title defense came last New Year’s Eve, outpointing Jeyvier Cintron—an unbeaten contender and two-time Olympian for his native Puerto Rico.

The same show saw Tanaka make the final defense of his flyweight title, stopping Wulan Tuolehazi inside of three rounds in the evening’s chief support. From there, Tanaka announced his intention to campaign at junior bantamweight where he immediately pursued a mandatory title fight with Ioka.

A deal was reached only for their historic clash to suffer a months-long delay due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It proved well worth the wait at least for Ioka, who now gets to play with house money for the rest of a career unquestionably destined for the International Hall of Fame whenever he decides to hang up the gloves.

That day is not coming anytime soon, however. At least, it won’t come before he has a chance to reap the benefits of a junior bantamweight division which has never been more lucrative.

Waiting in the wings are potential challenges with lineal 115-pound champion Juan Francisco Estrada (41-3, 28KOs), four-division and reigning WBA junior bantamweight titlist Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez (50-2, 41KOs) and former lineal champ Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (49-5, 42KOs).

Estrada and Gonzalez are due to collide on March 13, more than eight years after their memorable 12-round war in Nov. 2012 at junior flyweight. Sor Rungvisai is the WBC mandatory challenger due to face the winner.

Also in discussion is a third fight between reigning secondary WBA titlist Joshua Franco and former claimant Andrew Moloney. Rounding out the group is long-reigning IBF beltholder Jerwin Ancajas, who remains in desperate need of a relevant challenge.

“In our 115 division, there are great champions,” acknowledges Ioka. “I would like to take the show internationally to fight the best.”

Spence Vs. Crawford: Does Terence Deserve A 50-50 Split?

It’s not looking good for Terence Crawford with his hopes and dreams of sharing the ring with the talented IBF/WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr in 2021. Crawford and his promoter Bob Arum want a 50-50 split with Spence, and that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

If Spence agrees to the 50-50 split, he’d have to be feeling very charitable because, on paper, Crawford doesn’t deserve anything close to that.

Spence has made it clear that he would like to face Crawford, but he feels he’s not worth more than a 60-40 or 70-30 split at best.

Why Is Crawford Being Stubborn?

If Crawford stubbornly says not to the offers that Spence has made to him, he’ll be stuck trying to do a deal with Shawn Porter.

Earlier this week, Porter already said he’s not going to accept the $1 million lowball offer to Crawford. If Top Rank wants Porter, it’s going to take a lot more than $1 million to get him to sign on the dotted line.

Who will Crawford fight if he can’t get Spence and Porter? #2 WBO Vergil Ortiz Jr is too dangerous for the 33-year-old Crawford, and it’s doubtful that Top Rank would agree to make that fight.

Ortiz Jr has got the kind of power that can punch holes through brick walls, and Crawford doesn’t need that, especially with him getting older now and starting to show vulnerability in the chin department.

You can argue 70-30 is what Crawford’s true worth is for a fight with Spence, given that he’s not a pay-per-view fighter, and he doesn’t sell tickets the way Errol does.

We have to assume that Top Rank will eventually offer Spence the Crawford fight at a 55-45 in Errol’s favor in hopes that he’ll bite at that split.

Unfortunately, it’s doubtful that Spence and his adviser Al Haymon at Premier Boxing Champions will agree to that split because it would be a situation where they would greatly be overpaying Crawford.

Terence is a good fighter, but he’s not popular with casual boxing fans. He’ll well-liked by hardcore boxing fans that like watching defensive fighters who counter punch and move a lot, but he’s not a PPV-level guy like Spence.

Top Rank Should Agree To Spence’s 70-30 Split

If Top Rank believes in Crawford, they’ll say yes to the 60-40 or 70-30 split for the Spence fight. Look at it this way. If Crawford wins, he’ll get the 50-50 split that he wants for the rematch. It would be the same situation that we saw with Andy Ruiz Jr when he challenged Anthony Joshua.

If Crawford is going to be leaving Top Rank anyway after his contract runs out in late 2021, wouldn’t it be better for them to cash out with the Spence fight while they can? I mean, 40 percent of a fight against pence is better than 100% of nothing, isn’t it? I’m just saying.

Ruiz had to take the smaller spit for the first fight, which represented that he was facing the A-side guy that brought in the fans with Joshua. When Ruiz pulled off the upset, he was able to get a better deal the second time around.

If Crawford believes in himself, he should take the smaller money to get the fight with Spence, and then if he beats him, they can run it back and he’d get a better deal.

Crawford Isn’t In The Position To Get A 50-50 Deal

Right now, Crawford isn’t in the position to get a 50-50 deal or shutter the thought, a 60-40 split in his favor. Crawford’s resume is barren of any names in terms of talented opposition.

He’s only fought one good fighter during his career and that was at lightweight when he took on Yuriorkis Gamboa, who was two divisions above his best weight class of 126. Even then, Yuriorkis staggered Crawford early and was getting the better of him until he gassed out in the 8th.

This could be the last time WBO 147-lb champion Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) gets a shot at Errol because he plans on moving up to 154 soon to fight the big dogs in that division.

Victor Ortiz: I Strongly Believe Mayweather Will Have Trouble With Logan Paul

Former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, who was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather in 2011, believes his former foe will have trouble with his upcoming opponent, Youtube star Logan Paul.

Mayweather, a former five division world champion with a perfect 50-0, record, is scheduled to face Paul in an exhibition clash on February 20.

Paul made his pro debut last year and lost a controversial split decision to Youtube rival KSI.

Ortiz, who is friends with Paul, recently went to his home in Encino, Califronia, and watched him score a brutal knockout of a sparring partner.

“Holy crap. Mind you, these are full-on professional boxers [Paul is sparring with],” Ortiz told MMA Fighting. “I sat back in shock and awe. He was so composed and relaxed. He used his reach perfect – took a little step, hook down the middle, sleep. Night-night. My only complaint there is that he didn’t read him a bedtime story.”

The 43-year-old Mayweather is a tremendous favorite to beat the 25-year-old Paul.

But, Paul is much bigger physically with six to seven inches in height and at least 50-pounds in weight.

“I know what I know, and I know what I see,” Ortiz said. “What I’m saying, in a sense, is that he will give Floyd trouble. I’m telling you, it’s going to be an interesting fight. I’ve talked to him about Floyd a few times. … I give him the simple things: ‘Floyd is Floyd, but you’re unstoppable. You’re on another level.’ I strongly believe Floyd will have trouble. Logan can box, and he has power, reach speed, and he can move now.

“[Mayweather] found a YouTuber – that sounds easy enough for a 20-time world champion. Alright, let’s beat him up. But what I’ve been watching and seeing is a YouTuber gone professional boxer who puts in hours and hours of work studying films. He’s very disciplined, and he’s working his butt off, and he listens. He has a heck of a coach [in Milton Lacroix] who’s very knowledgeable and very experienced. I believe it’s a dangerous combo. From what I see at the gym, I can honestly say Logan can probably hit harder than [Mayweather]. Now, who’s more accurate? We’ll see Feb. 20.”

Haney’s 2021 Wishlist: 135 Unification With Lopez Followed By Gervonta Davis

Lightweight titlist Devin Haney is outlining his holiday wishlist, and it’s headlined by a pair of potential mouthwatering fights for 2021.

“My next [fight] will be Teofimo Lopez because that would be for all the belts of course and I would want to be undisputed champion of the lightweight division, and then I would say Gervonta Davis,” Haney told the “Last Stand Podcast” with Brian Custer.

“I think Teofimo Lopez does want to fight me, I think Teofimo actually, really wants to fight me.  Maybe he doesn’t really like me or whatever the case may be but I think he really does want to fight me. Ryan Garcia not so much.”

The 135-pound division also features the likes of former champion and pound for pound kingpin Vasiliy Lomachenko. Jorge Linares, Javier Fortuna, Richard Commey, Luke Campbell and Robert Easter all present themselves as premier B-side options as well.

Everyone, however, wants to see Haney, Lopez, Davis, Garcia and Lomachenko all mix it up in an unofficial tournament, facing each other one at a time in whatever order is needed.

The WBC recently made it clear that Haney will have two mandatories due in 2021 – Fortuna and the winner of Saturday’s eliminator between Garcia and Campbell.

The 22-year-old, Las Vegas-based Haney (25-0, 15 KOs), who is coming off a one-sided drubbing and unanimous decision over Yuriorkis Gamboa, had the following message to share with his future foes.

“At the end of the day, when I get in the ring with these guys we shall see,” said Haney. “If I don’t have the punching power, why aren’t these guys quick to get in the ring with me, I got a belt. It’s the most money they’ll make up to date in their career, so if they really feel like I was such an easy fight why aren’t these guys so quick to beat me, to stop me from running my mouth, to get me out of there. They’re not, in reality the proof is in the pudding.

“If I’ve fought so many easy guys and if I was so easy, come get me, if you really feel like that.  If you really feel like that then you would come get me, beat me, and take my belt and get the easy money and then walk off with an easy night if that’s how you really feel. If I was so easy these guys would be begging for me and they’re not.

“My skill set, my work ethic, my skill set is just different from those guys and in my fights it has shown. I dominate my opponents, I make them look inexperienced. I pitch shutouts so badly that people criticize my opponents because I don’t lose rounds, I don’t lose any seconds of the fight.”

Golovkin vs. Munguia Clash Being Explored For 2021, Says Beltran

Zanfer Promoter CEO Fernando Beltran, who co-promotes unbeaten Mexican middleweight contender Jaime Munguia, revealed that there are discussions for a potential 2021 showdown with IBF, IBO world champion Gennadiy Golovkin.

Two years ago, Munguia was selected as the opponent for Golovkin – who was seeking a foe to replace Canelo Alvarez, who was pulled from the fight after failing a pre-fight drug test.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to sanction the fight – citing Munguia’s age and lack of world class experience.

Their decision benefited Munguia and help jump start his career. Following the refusal of the NSAC, Munguia was selected as a voluntary opponent by WBO junior middleweight champion Sadam Ali.

Munguia (36-0, 29 KOs) easily demolished Ali in four rounds to capture the WBO belt.

The 24-year-old was in action in October, when he stopped veteran Tureano Johnson by splitting his lower lip in half with a vicious uppercut.

After the fight, Munguia says he was very willing to face Golovkin. And his co-promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, were fully on board with the fight.

Golovkin, 38, saw action earlier this month, when he demolished mandatory challenger Kamil Szeremeta in seven rounds.

Beltran could see a Golovkin vs. Munguia fight come off in 2021.

“We are doing well, I think we have a good chance of having this fight, right now we are just talking, ” said Beltrán to ESPN Deportes.

Golovkin is also in the running for a fight with WBC, WBA super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

But, the fight with Canelo is not looking like a possibility until later on in the year. Canelo will first make a mandatory defense against Avni Yildirim, which is being targeted for February 27 in Guadalajara. Should he win, Canelo is likely to return in the month of May – in a potential unification with WBO world champion Billy Joe Saunders.

Canelo Ready To Satisfy WBC Mandatory, Hopes Mexico Return Happens

As BoxingScene.com previously reported, Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is targeting the date of February 27 for his next fight, with his hometown of Guadalajara being the preferred location.

Canelo was in action two weeks ago, when he dominated Callum Smith to capture the WBC, WBA super middleweight titles.

As part of their agreement with the World Boxing Council, Canelo has to make a mandatory defense against Avni Yildirim.

After fighting only once in 2020, Canelo is hoping to see action at least three times next year – in February, May and September.

“We first have to deliver on the commitment we made when we beat Smith. The winner of that fight had to defend against the mandatory challenger [Avni Yildirim] in no more than 90 days,” Canelo’s trainer and manager, Eddy Reynoso, said to ESPN Deportes.

“Then for May, if we come out well in February, there is Billy Joe Saunders, Gennadiy Golovkin and Caleb Plant, they are the three that could be [the opponent] in May. There are no secrets, it is what it is. So far I’ve only been talking to Eddie Hearn for the 27th [of February].”

Regarding the possibility of Canelo having his first fight in Mexico since 2011, Reynoso said that it will depend on how the pandemic plays out, but assured that the range of possibilities is enormous.

“If people cannot enter the stadiums, which is what we want, I see it as being difficult to do, but it is our idea to go forward on our land, to Guadalajara,” Reynoso said.

“There is the Charros stadium, Jalisco, the Omnilife (Akron), the VFG Arena, even the Guadalajara Coliseum, we would like to fight in Mexico – and in our land there are many options, we have a good relationship with everyone.”

In the event that Mexico does not materialize, Canelo could return earlier than planned to Texas, where the success of the protocols and the public’s response has already been confirmed with the success of the recent event with Smith.

Photo credits: Kylie Verzosa | Instagram

“If someone messages you on IG, you’ll think you’re not the only girl. I think if he can do that to me, then he’s probably doing it to different girl,”saad ni Kylie.

“Mas maganda kasi nakikita n’yo ang isa’t isa in a different light. It’s nice that we knew each other as friends first kasi ‘yun talaga walang best foot forward,”pahayag ni Jake.

For the first time in my life nakikita ko na siya. Pero no rush, no pressure,” saad ni Jake.

Mayorga Has Yet To Travel Over To Chavez’s Clinic To Continue Treatment

Three months have passed since former two division world champion Ricardo Mayorga left a rehabilitation center in Nicaragua. He spent a month and a half in the facility to overcome his battle with alcohol and drug addictions.

However, Mayorga has not yet decided to take the next step which is to go to Julio César Chávez’s clinic in Mexico, a place known for changing the lives of many celebrities who have hit rock bottom in this dark world of vices. Everything indicates that the boxer is not ‘convinced’ to leave his family for an extended period of time.

Bismarck Morales, in charge of the WBC for Central America, indicated that the agency’s offer is still there, to pay for Mayorga’s expenses to get help at Chavez’s clinic.

“The last time I saw Ricardo Mayorga at Rosendo Alvarez’s house, I saw him sober, in good condition. However, the World Boxing Council maintains its offer to complete the process in Mexico. The truth is that I do not know the reason why he has not left, I imagine that he still does not want to take that leap,” Morales explained to La Prensa.

Former world champion Rosendo Alvarez has been a huge supporter of Mayorga’s long fight to overcome his personal demons.

“It is never enough when fighting addictions to just stop, the fight continues. It is not about being well for just a few months. Going to Mexico is a decision for Mayorga and his family. They need to agree, the tickets are ready, the rehab site awaits. Everything is in his court, he is no longer a child. We have done everything that was in our power,” Alvarez said.

“Mayorga comes to my house a lot. I have not touched on the subject because I don’t see him being convinced [on taking that next step]. Mauricio Sulaimán, president of the WBC, told me that if he makes the decision to leave, they would gladly support him. Sometimes he comes over alone or with his wife and I can assure you that he has come here in good condition.”

Broner: Working Towards My Goals And Dreams No Matter How Hard It May Be

Adrien Broner has turned over a new leaf and is officially in fight mode.

It’s a storyline that has preceded every ring appearance in recent years, to the point of many in the industry simply tuning out the claim. This time around, however, the former four-division titlist has witnesses to the journey on which he has embarked and has chosen to share with his public.

“Good morning today I ran 6 miles in 54 minutes. Y’all, it’s not hard to change your life,” Broner revealed in a heartfelt statement released through his social media channels on Monday. “I went from overweight 57 pounds waking up not even drinking water first and I take a shot of 1942 and start drinking for the rest of the day to waking up one day at a time and telling myself I’m [gonna] change this shit and become what I know I can be.

“That is [to be] “One of the Best Boxers EVER” and I didn’t look back. Now, I’m months in and liquor free and over 30 pounds down. If you know me [then] you know I love to drink but I LOVE my family and money more!”

Broner (33-4-1, 24KOs) has been out of the ring since a 12-round loss to Manny Pacquiao in their Showtime Pay-Per-View headliner last January at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The bout was the third straight where the Cincinnati native failed to post a win, having not accomplished as much since a 10-round split decision over Adrian Granados in a February 2017 hometown headliner.

That night was followed by a 12-round loss to then-unbeaten Mikey Garcia in July 2017, a competitive and entertaining 10-round draw with Jessie Vargas in April 2018 followed by the aforementioned defeat to Pacquiao. Over that stretch and in the near two-years which have followed his last fight have come headlines for all the wrong reasons, with Broner either getting arrested or named as the defendant in a major lawsuit.

On every occasion, the now 31-year old has vowed to be a changed man and to get his act together. There was a dark period, however, where Broner was all but ready to give up and just accept whatever fate he felt was in store.

A corner appears to have been turned in recent weeks, as Broner has holed up in South Florida where he remains hard at work for a yet-to-be-determined fight date in the first quarter of 2021. Preliminary plans called for a showdown with Ivan Redkach in January, though the date—if not the fight altogether—is no longer on the table. Returning to the ring within the next three months, however, is very much a real possibility, with the still-marketable boxer putting in the necessary work to prepare for the next chapter of his wild career.

“12 rounds in the bank today; 8 with 4x division world champion Adrien Broner,” noted Xander Zayas (6-0, 5KOs), an 18-year old rising welterweight prospect whom has enjoyed sessions with Broner, two-division titlist Gervonta Davis and many others in recent weeks.

The claim was accompanied by who posted online workout pictures with an in-shape present-day version of the former champ at Centeno’s Sweatbox Boxing Gym in Davie, Florida, where Zayas trains daily.

“Great experience,” noted Zayas. “Adrien Broner is in shape and training hard every day.”

The recent sparring session with the young gun was just a small step on Broner’s quest for peace of mind, body and soul.

“I was unhappy and depressed and now I’m not as happy as I want to be,” notes Broner. “[B]ut I’m working towards my goals and dreams no matter how hard it may be.

“I will get there and I ain’t ask for a handout or help! Sometimes you have to do things on your own and you will enjoy the results MORE. I love y’all.”

Most importantly, Broner is back to a place where he truly loves himself. No matter what comes of the rest of his boxing career, that personal victory has been a long time coming.

De La Hoya: A Revenge Fight With Mayweather is Very Intriguing

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya is still very much interested in coming back to ring.

The former six division champion retired back in December of 2008, after suffering a one-sided stoppage loss at the hands of Manny Pacquiao.

During a recent interview with BoxingScene.com, De La Hoya named middleweight champion Gennadiy Golovkin as a target opponent.

But now, De La Hoya has set his sights on a grudge rematch with five division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

De La Hoya lost a close twelve round split decision to Mayweather in 2007 – in the main event of a fight that generated he third highest pay-per-view buyrate in history.

Since revealing his desire to fight again, De La Hoya has been mobbed with questions pertaining to a possible fight with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez, who recently parted ways with Golden Boy after a lengthy business relationship.

De La Hoya explains that he would rather fight the man who defeated Canelo in 2013, which is Mayweather.

“I’ve always prided myself on fighting the very best. And why go after the second-best [fighter]? Why not go after the guy that beat [Canelo]? Why not go after Mayweather, for instance, in a revenge fight? That’s something that is very intriguing. We’ll see how I feel and then we’ll take it from there,” De La Hoya told Fight Hub TV.

Mayweather retired from the sport in 2017, with a perfect 50-0 record, after stopping UFC superstar Conor McGregor in ten rounds.

The former five division world champion is scheduled to enter the ring again on February 20th, when he faces Youtube star Logan Paul in a pay-per-view main event – which is being fought as an exhibition. Mayweather, 43-years-old, took part in another exhibition back in December of 2018, when he blew away unbeaten kickboxer Teshin Nasukawa in the first round.

Photo credits: Aubrey Miles | Instagram

Photo credits: Aubrey Miles | Instagram

“Pagka talagang plant lover ka, you want a lot. Never-ending. I have a small greenhouse. Pagka hindi ako kumuha ng bigger one, mapupuno itong loob ng bahay ko and I need to be considerate with my family.”

“The most expensive one is the variegated billietiae. It’s the colorful one. I have this rare one na hindi lahat ng countries meron. The spiritus sancti, it’s also one of the most talked-about plants in the plant community- in the world.”

Photo credits: Aubrey Miles | Instagram

Photo credits: Aubrey Miles | Instagram

“You know sometimes when they ask me parang I feel like they think I’m crazy or insane to pay that much. But the way I do it, when I get an expensive plant, I make sure that I’m going to propagate it. Propagation is when you cut them then grow and then I sell them to get my money back. So I sell them. Some I sell to get my money back.”
